About Us
Family owned and run for over 100 years
Established in 1916 by Patrick McGovern Senior, P.McGovern & Son has been family owned and run for over a century. In later years the company was run and owned by Patrick’s son James. Today, P.McGovern is run by its 3rd generation, by brothers Patrick and Joe Mc Govern who are sons of James.
P.McGovern and Son Building Contractors are currently based in the village of Bawnboy in west Co. Cavan. The company has served the locality and surrounding counties as well as locations further afield in Ireland for over 100 years.
The first of the company’s projects in 1916 was the construction of a bridge in Corlough for the Bawnboy Union. The first few years saw Patrick McGovern Senior and his small number of staff complete more contracts and build three dance halls in Swanlinbar Co. Cavan (Two of which still are in use today).
